From the Gun Show Floor

(Kenny Woods Gun Show LLC)
Heritage Hall of Lexington Center Went yesterday "Friday" , pretty much dead and most everything overpriced in my opinion . A few black rifles but nothing special ,most guns were $100 + more than at Buds Gun shop . went there after leaving the show . Ammo , bulk mil. .223 for $350 to $375 / 500 rounds .Too many tables of cheap plastic handled knifes . only about 3 .243 rifles in the entire place but over priced as well and nobody wanting to come down on any prices .Advertised as 400 tables but looked to be less than half of that and one whole end of the room with empty tables .More people trying to sell their guns than buying from the dealers there. A quickly snapped pic to give an ideal of the overwhelming size of the crowds there. |
Re: From the Gun Show Floor
Sounds underwhelming. I have a great deal more success getting good deals on ammo and guns from internet trader boards and pawn shops than gun stores or shows for the last year or so it seems. Buddy of mine just got a NEW ruger gp 100 4" for 350 at a pawn shop near me.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
Yeah gun shows have been the same out here (price, quality, selection) - except that they are packed.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
Went there today. There were a ton of people today, but no really interesting guns, and the prices were terrible for the most part.
I go to a gun show to get a deal, not to pay more than at the gun store! And little knick knack things like AK sight adjusters were like double the internet price. I should have taken your advice and stayed home! |
Re: From the Gun Show Floor
The show I attend is PACKED...I will post pics next time.....

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I've never bought a gun at a gun show. Too many people around, sellers wanting someone to make up their mind quick and make the sale and the prices just too damn high. There may be deals at shows, but I've never seen them.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I've bought most of my firearms at gun shows. When I go to a gun shop there are usually 3 guys with nothing to do but encourage me to buy one of their overpriced guns to justify their jobs. At gun shows dealers have little overhead and usually no employees. I've bought from many private owners at gun shows who had their own tables, even had my own table a few times to unload my own guns.
I buy most firearms used. Sure there are lots of overpriced guns at shows, but hey, they are show guns that won't sell. Let them show off their guns, it's a show! |
Re: From the Gun Show Floor
Our local show is so pakced, you spend most of the time walking with your body sideways.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I go to gun shows only for entertainment, networking, and window shopping. Prices too damn high, selection does not meet my demands.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
The ones by me, south florida, are always packed balls to the wall. Quite literaly so, you have to press em against the wall just to get past anyone.
Prices are generaly infalted beyond reason. Ammo wasnt exactly plentiful, or priced very well, but it was indeed available. Rifle ammo seemed to be coming down while handgun ammo was still a bit excessive, both could be had cheaper online even after shipping. Not as many private sellers by us anymore either. County made em stop selling at booths, and they dont really walk around much or hang outside anymore it seems. |
Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I am going to the one in Tampa in a week
looking to add a couple levers to the Stash, and the last show I remember a guy had some 1866 Yellowboys and 1860 Henry's for a good price and if I could find a nice sharp's would be happy |
Re: From the Gun Show Floor
Well, times have changed. Back in the '80s there would have been consequences if anyone had taken a picture at a gun show. I guess cell phones have made it impossible to control.

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I also went to our local show ( SO. ORE ) on fri. I got there a little before opening and found the crowd outside was 1/2 the size of a show 6 months back. As always there were the guys selling $1500 ARs and alot of older guns this time. I was surprized @ how many old Colt 1911's were for sale from 1400 to 3500. There was very little ammo.I was shocked at a guy that purchased 50 rounds of what looked like Wolf for 15.00 after hagling the guy down from his asking price of 30.00. On line you can get it for .19 a round. The only thing I could bring myself to purchase was a couple Nos Cetme mags in a plastic holder.. Not to much sold that day..

Re: From the Gun Show Floor
I've gotten some really good deals at Gun shows. The most recent was a Bushmaster AR for $250. I hang out out front and watch the people bring in guns for sale. I saw this AR come out of a Lexus driven by a well-dressed man in his 40's. I watched him take it out of the trunk in the parking lot. I walked out to meet him. I asked how much, he said $250, I didn't even dicker. After I paid him he got back in his car and left.
I've never seen any good deals on the tables in the building. The best deals are the people that bring guns from home to sell. |
